These terms and conditions apply to all participants, spectators, and volunteers at the Hopton 10k.
The Organisers
The Hopton 10k is organised by a volunteer committee based in Hopton, Mirfield, West Yorkshire. All proceeds go to Hopton Primary School. The race is held under a UK Athletics Race Licence (No. 27783) and is subject to UK Athletics Rules of Competition.
Entry
- Entry is via RaceBest. By entering, you agree to these terms and conditions and confirm that you are physically fit to participate.
- You must be 15 years of age or older on race day to enter.
- Entries close at midday on the Saturday before the race. No entries are accepted on race day.
- Entry fees are non-refundable except at the sole discretion of the organisers. Contact [email protected] at least 24 hours before race day to request a transfer or refund. Refunds are subject to a £2.50 administration charge.
- Race numbers are non-transferable. You must not give, sell, or lend your number to another person without prior agreement from the organisers.
Race Rules
- All participants must follow the instructions of race marshals and officials at all times.
- The race must be completed within the 90-minute cut-off (by 11:30am). Marshals will begin to stand down after this time, and runners still on the course do so at their own risk.
- Headphones are permitted but strongly discouraged on trail sections for your own safety. You must be able to hear marshals’ instructions.
- Dogs (other than medical assistance dogs), buggies, and wheeled vehicles are not permitted on the course, in accordance with UK Athletics rules.
- The organisers reserve the right to refuse or withdraw any entry without giving a reason.
Health & Safety
- You enter and participate at your own risk. The organisers, sponsors, and volunteers accept no responsibility for any injury, illness, or loss sustained during the event, except where caused by negligence on their part.
- The race is covered by public liability insurance through UK Athletics.
- You should not participate if you are unwell, injured, or if a medical professional has advised against strenuous exercise.
- The course includes uneven terrain, woodland trails, stiles, and public roads. You are responsible for your own safety and for wearing appropriate footwear (trail shoes are recommended).
- First aid provision is available on race day. By entering, you consent to receiving medical treatment from event medical staff if required.
Course & Event Changes
- The organisers reserve the right to alter the course, start time, or event format for safety or operational reasons.
- In the event of cancellation due to circumstances beyond the organisers’ control (severe weather, public health restrictions, etc.), the organisers will endeavour to offer deferred entry to a future event but are not obliged to issue refunds.
Intellectual Property
- By entering, you grant the organisers permission to use your name, likeness, photographs, and video footage taken during the event for promotional purposes, including on the Hopton 10k website, social media channels, and printed materials. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
- Race results (name, finish time, position, running club) will be published on the Hopton 10k website and via RaceBest.
General
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- The organisers reserve the right to update these terms at any time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
